Issues she's most passionate about:
Effective School Finance
With limited funds and enormous needs, it is critical that the school board ensure that funds are used to effectively close achievement gaps and provide access to special programs for all students.
Close Achievement Gaps
Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has identified 5 different groups that have historically not performed Proficient and Distinguished on State testing. Greater focus on this issue is helpful. Gifted And Talented Programs
I would like diverse student populations to have better access to FCPS Specialized Programs (SCAPA, STEAM, Magnet Schools, etc.). Parents need to be informed about admission criteria, application processes and deadlines to apply for these programs. It is also important for those who review those application and make decisions about admissions to be aware of the need to diversify their programs.
I think it is important for the entire community to get involved (be informed, volunteer, attend board meetings, etc.) with the schools (including those who don't have children currently attending schools in the district. Every taxpayer in the city of Lexington has invested their money in the school district. The future of our city and community is too important to not be involved. Some of the community activities/ organizations that Dr. Mulder participated in that will help serve as an effective school board member include: 2018 Emerge Kentucky Class; Board Member, YMCA Central Kentucky; Education Chair, NAACP Lexington; Life Member, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.; Charter Member, National Pan-Hellanic Council; Board Chair, Professional Life Coach, Inc.; and 2012-2013 Commerce Lexington - Leadership Lexington Graduate.
